A nape piercing is a piercing through the surface of the back of the neck (or nape). As with any surface piercing, the nape piercing does come with a high rate of rejection.

Special jewelry should be used for all nape piercings to minimize the risk of rejection. Tygon or teflon are used with surfacebars and barbells for long term and short term nape piercing jewelry.
