The Monroe piercing, which is also known as the Crawford piercing, is named after Marilyn Monroe and Cindy Crawford because the piercing is located in the same area as their beauty marks. This piercing is placed above the upper lip and is meant to resemble a beauty mark and is generally filled with 12, 16 or 18 gauge labret. AS you can see by the monroe pictures below, the piercing can be on either side of the lip and also varies in height above the lip.

The monroe piercing/crawford piercing is extraordinary and is incredibility sexy. More women have the crawford piercing than men, however more men are starting to follow. I think this piercing looks great on women but I am not very fond of it on men. Perhaps I have just never saw a sexy male with one!
